Social Networking Test

Many of us have read, heard about or personally had cyberpost remorse; completely regretting having hit that enter button and desperately wanting to take it back, now, from our twitter thread, facebook wall or other social media platforms.

To help you post or comment online confidently I recommend Fridge Testing before posting.

Take your future contribution to cyber space and mentally test-post your comment or photo on the two fridges of your life: your home and office fridges.

Start with your household fridge. Your roommate, loved one, children and other guests, even your grandparents may see it as they walk by or reach into your cool box for something to satisfy their thirst or hunger. Are you OK with what they will see or read? If you are not sure don't post it on the internet. Doubt means don't.

If you are good with it, take your pic or words from your home fridge and put them on the fridge in the office kitchen. #1 client was in the neighbourhood and has just popped in for an impromptu visit. Ms. Boss invites him in to your eating area to offer him a coffee. Are you still OK with what you posted?

As Erica told Mark in the movie The social network ‘…the internet is not written in pencil…It is written in ink.’  Protect yourself, your brand and those you respect by Fridge Testing before posting.
